Juventus convinced by ´legitimacy´ of Super League as Serie A giants reveal losses

Juventus revealed annual losses of €209.9million as the Italian giants defended their involvement at the forefront of the failed European Super League project.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic saw income plummet for the Serie A club during the 2020-21 financial year, Juventus said on Friday.

Juventus said it had covered the losses with its share premium reserve, meaning the club s overall net debt stood at €389.2million, just €4million higher than at the end of the previous year.

The Turin club had reported annual losses of €89.7million for 2019-20, and the club said it estimated direct and indirect adverse effects of the pandemic from March 2020 to June 2022 to amount to €320milion, based on an assumption that economic normality would steadily r…

Rojo to leave Manchester United?

According to a report from Daily Telegraph, Marcos Rojo looks set to be the first departure from Manchester United’s defence as they attempt to bolster their back line for the remainder of the season. The defensive situation at Old Trafford has been their biggest issue for quite some time now, but the question has always been what steps are going to be taken in order to fix it.

The Argentine defender Rojo, who turns 29 in March, has been at the club since 2014. In that time he’s fluctuated between being a key member of the first team, and being someone who is only called upon for cup matches and things of that nature.

Rojo made the jump over to English football back in 2014 from Sporting, in a move that also seemed to cement his place in the Argentina national team.…

´Messi is the only one guaranteed a place´ – Di Maria not taking World Cup spot for granted

Angel Di Maria is concerned he has yet to do enough to guarantee himself a place in Argentina s World Cup squad due to uncertainty surrounding his future at club level.

The 34-year-old is without a club after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer following a seven-season spell in the French capital.

He has been linked with a number of teams, with Serie A giants Juventus reportedly close to agreeing a one-year deal for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player.

Speaking earlier this week, meanwhile, newly appointed Rosario Central boss Carlos Tevez revealed he is hoping to bring Di Maria back to the Argentine club.

Di Maria will not have long to settle at his new side before Qatar 2022 begins on November 21, with Argentina in Group C alo…

Ansu Fati contract extension close, Koeman confirms

Barcelona are close to tying Ansu Fati down to a new long-term contract, head coach Ronald Koeman has confirmed.

The Catalans are said to have been focused on handing out bumper deals to their most promising talents after losing Lionel Messi in pre-season, with a rebuild well under way.

Media speculation in recent days suggested their hopes of renewing Fati s deal had hit a stumbling block, with his agent Jorge Mendes apparently unwilling for a €1billion release clause to be inserted into his contract.

Such a clause proved no obstacle to securing Pedri s future and quickly the news reports were turned on their heads, with Mundo Deportivo claiming on Tuesday that a deal has been struck with Fati and Mendes in principle .

Fati has broken a host of records…

Mourinho: I think it´s a failure that PSG have not won the Champions League

Jose Mourinho believes Paris Saint-Germain should have won the Champions League already, considering the crazy level of investment in the squad.

The French club have the chance to lift the one trophy that has evaded them since the arrival of owners Qatar Sports Investments when they take on Bayern Munich on Sunday.

After failing to make it beyond the last eight in the previous seven seasons, PSG have prospered with the revised format in Portugal, defeating Atalanta and RB Leipzig to make it to the final.

However, having spent big in pursuit of European success, Tottenham boss Mourinho feels it is a failure they have not reigned in recent years.

I think it is a failure that they didn t win it in the two seasons before because for five or six years the inv…

Atletico Madrid v Sevilla: Gabi relishing title scrap with Barcelona

Atletico Madrid captain Gabi is relishing being involved in another Liga title tussle with Barcelona as Diego Simeone s table-toppers prepare for the visit of Sevilla.

The 2014 champions have lost just three of their opening 20 league matches and bounced back from December s 1-0 defeat to Malaga by winning the next four games without conceding.

That form has kept them in the thick of the battle for the championship and Gabi is enjoying the ride.

We re where we want to be, he said, speaking after Atletico s 0-0 Copa del Rey draw with Celta Vigo.

It s great for all of us to be fighting with Barcelona, to be practically level on points. We re where we want to be and we ll see where we re able to end up.

Atletico were convincing 3-0 winners a…

Pep Guardiola condemns Manchester City fans who chanted about Sir Bobby Charlton

Pep Guardiola distanced Manchester City from the two banned supporters who chanted offensively following the death of Sir Bobby Charlton, insisting the pair “don’t represent us”.

Footage emerged on social media of two people, both minors, chanting about Charlton during City’s match against Brighton last weekend, soon after the Manchester United great’s death was announced publicly.

City have acted swiftly, denouncing the chanting as “vile”, ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford, where United will hold a minute’s applause before kick-off in memory of Charlton.

Guardiola is hopeful the travelling fans will conduct themselves respectfully, as he condemned the behaviour of the two fans who have been suspended from attending City matches…

Lukaku rejected Man City and ´100 per cent´ wanted Inter stay over Chelsea move

Romelu Lukaku has revealed he rejected a move to Manchester City in 2020 and only joined Chelsea a year later after Inter decided against offering him a new contract.

The Belgium international returned to Stamford Bridge in August for a reported club-record fee of £97.5million (€115m) on the back of firing Inter to a first Scudetto in 11 years.

Speaking in September, Lukaku said he asked Inter boss Simone Inzaghi to grant his return to Chelsea in the close-season after the Premier League side s first two offers had been rejected.

He has scored seven goals in 18 appearances since re-joining the Blues in a first half to the campaign that has been hampered by injuries and illness.
